Christian Education Mission Statement
The Christian Education Committee will provide all ages with a foundation of Christian knowledge and opportunities for spiritual growth, so that individuals are enabled to grow close to God, themselves and others.
Committee Description:
Christian Education committee determines and has general supervision of the Christian Education program of the church. In cooperation with staff - persons responsible for Christian Education, this committee plans and implements all educational activities of the church. This committee prepares its budget requests and submits them to the Church Council.
Adult Bible Studies are a time for adults of all ages of the church to study, learn, pray, and grow in Christ. Please see the schedule of Bible studies listed below, and feel free to join us any time!
Tuesday
- 9 am Men's Fellowship meets in the Library
Wednesday
-1 pm Bible Study with Janet Pippen in the Library bi-weekly.
Our youth meet regularly during the year with short breaks during the summer months. You can find a general list of their activities here:
- Confirmation August through May annually. Youth will meet from 6:30-8pm in the Parish Hall.
Sunday
-Sunday School ‘S.L.A.M’ meets most Sundays at the 10 am service in the Kid’s Kingdom Nursery space. All ages welcome: August through May annually.
New Member Classes
- As announced in the Olive Branch, bulletins and our social media pages. Typically held twice a year as needed.
Are you considering becoming a member of Mount Olive? Are you interested in learning more about the ministry here? Inquisitive hearts and minds want to know. Come and join us for a two-day orientation session. The new member orientation will be 2-two hour sessions Sunday October 13 and 20, from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Lakeview Room. Some history of the Lutheran church, worship, ministry opportunities, a campus tour, church structure, governance, stewardship, and much more will be covered during our time together. I look forward to seeing you in October.
1st Communion
-Held up to twice a year in Spring and Fall for children 3rd grade age and up and is a part of the requirement for our Confirmation age students.
Cradle Roll
-Listing of our newly baptized members ages 0-5 years old.
YES
- The Youth Education Scholarship Fund assists our graduating seniors who have applied and been accepted to an accredited college or university. You must be a member of Mount Olive for at least a year, attend regularly, and participate in youth activities. Students who apply as seniors can renew their application each year by writing a letter telling us of their year’s experience and plans for the future. They will receive the $500 scholarship for up to four years if they are a full-time student. CHAIRPERSON: Millie Elrod phone: 505-8190.
Resurrection Affects Everyday Life
Led by Rev. Al Schoonover, A five to six-week study of the resurrection stories. Starting in the sanctuary on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at noon. The Bible study will also be live-streamed.
