Mount Olive’s Mission Endowment Fund is active

During His public ministry, Jesus talked frequently about the potential power of seemingly small things. For example, a seed planted in the ground can grow into something large and provide many benefits. Endowment funds are like the planted seeds – they start small, and they grow with a little nurturing. When endowments are planted and grown, they can provide opportunities to expand the horizons of work in God’s kingdom.

Since the retirement of Mount Olive’s mortgage debt, the Planned Giving & Endowment Committee has refocused our efforts to revive our Mission Endowment Fund. Mount Olive’s Mission Endowment Fund was created to provide a way for members to leave a legacy gift for the long-term funding of our core ministries. It provides a structured framework by which we can accept many types of legacy gifts and invest those gifts for the perpetual support of our church’s beloved ministries. These funds cannot be used for the day-to-day operations of the church, and it is not a “rainy day fund.” The fund has been set up in a way that protects and grows the balance of the Fund while still providing distributions that can be used to support the ministries we value most. We have been steadily reinvesting these quarterly distributions, and our investment has grown substantially.

Over the next several weeks you will be hearing much more from us about our Mission Endowment Fund.

Our committee will be hosting a 90-minute book study on Monday evening, October 7th to help us all learn more about connecting our faith with our finances. Then, Lisa Higginbotham will be here for a live event on November 17th to help us better understand all the options we might have to include a gift to Mount Olive’s Endowment Fund in our estate planning.

If you have any questions about any of our committee activities, please reach out to Marilyn Maier (maiermarilyn@gmail.com) or Steve Philo (sphilo133@gmail.com).
