Unleash Your Power Using a Simple Tool
Go Beyond Your Will and Fill in Those Beneficiaries
What do a hammer, a shield, and a lasso have in common?
They are relatively common tools that boosted the power of the comic-book superheroes who wielded them.
You can release your untapped power for the greater good, too! Just like those superheroes, you only need a little help from a simple tool: in this case, a paper or online form.
On that form, which you fill out when setting up or changing a retirement account, life insurance policy, donor advised fund, or commercial annuity, there’s a space that says “beneficiary.” You can list one or more names: a spouse or partner, a family member, friend, and even the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund.
Should you include the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund you will allow our church to continue its mission and thrive far into the future. Your beneficiary designations could make a transformational difference, one form at a time.
With Great Percentages Come Great Power
It doesn’t take a fortune to make a lasting impact on our mission — and naming the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund as a beneficiary doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing proposition.
You can choose to give a percentage of your retirement account or life insurance policy to more than one beneficiary. This way, you can provide for your loved ones and make your commitment to Mount Olive Lutheran Church last forever.
Whatever You Do…
Keep your beneficiary designations up to date and do not leave the beneficiary space blank when you fill out any forms (such as during an open-enrollment period at a workplace) that ask for one. That’s like forsaking your superpower!
Remember: Retirement accounts and life insurance plans are among the assets that are not included in a will. If you fail to properly document your beneficiary designation, federal or state law or the plan document will determine how the proceeds are distributed.
If you name the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund as beneficiary of one of your policies or accounts, be sure to let us know. Plan administrators have varying policies for notifying nonprofit beneficiaries. By informing us of your gift, you ensure that we receive it and use it the way you intend. We would also be honored to thank you for your generosity.
